Work Due to Start on New PlayZone Facility at Bude Park Hull
Construction is set to begin on a new £3.5 million PlayZone facility at Bude Park in north Hull, Hull City Council has announced.
The project will transform the park into one of Hull's premier community recreation spaces, with work expected to start in early March and complete by autumn 2026.
What's Being Built
The Bude Park PlayZone will include:
- A full-size 3G artificial pitch with floodlights for year-round use
- A new community pavilion with changing rooms, meeting spaces, and a cafe
- A children's splash pad — Hull's first free public splash facility
- An adventure playground for children aged 5-12
- A toddler play area with soft surfaces and age-appropriate equipment
- A multi-use games area (MUGA) for basketball, tennis, and five-a-side
Community Input
The design was shaped by extensive community consultation, with over 1,200 residents providing feedback. The most requested features were the splash pad and the 3G pitch.
Local resident and campaign group member Sarah Watts said: "This is what North Hull has needed for years. There's nothing like this north of the river at the moment. Families have been crying out for better facilities."
Funding
The project is funded through:
- £2.1 million from Hull City Council's capital programme
- £800,000 from Sport England
- £600,000 from the Football Foundation
Jobs and Community Benefits
The facility is expected to create 8 full-time and 15 part-time jobs. Local sports clubs have already expressed interest in using the 3G pitch for training and matches.
