Chance to Nominate Community Heroes for Iconic Cream Phone Boxes
KCOM has launched its annual Hometown Heroes campaign, inviting the public to nominate local people who make East Yorkshire a better place to live.
The telecommunications company, famous for its distinctive cream telephone boxes found only in Hull and East Yorkshire, is partnering with local sporting heroes Tommy and Lewie Coyle to find community champions deserving of recognition.
How It Works
Members of the public can nominate anyone who has made an outstanding contribution to their community. Categories include:
- Community Champion: Someone who goes above and beyond for their neighbours
- Young Hero: An under-18 who is making a difference
- Volunteer of the Year: Recognising dedication to voluntary service
- Lifetime Achievement: For those who have served their community over many years
The Prize
Winners will have their name and story displayed on one of KCOM's iconic cream phone boxes in their local area, along with receiving a £500 donation to a charity of their choice.
Celebrity Backing
Hull-born boxer Tommy Coyle said: "Hull is full of heroes — not just in the ring, but on every street corner. People who look after their neighbours, coach kids' teams, run food banks. This is their chance to get the recognition they deserve."
Nominations close on 30 April 2026. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in June.
