Film Company Founders Launch The Hull Studio Media Hub

A new creative industries hub has opened at the Maltings development in Hull, providing local media companies, agencies, and freelancers with professional production facilities previously only available in cities like Leeds and Manchester.

The Hull Studio, founded by film production veterans Sarah Mitchell and James Park, offers a comprehensive range of services under one roof.

Facilities

The 8,000 sq ft space includes:

  • Two professional film studios with green screen capability
  • A podcast and audio recording suite
  • Edit suites with industry-standard software
  • Photography studio with professional lighting
  • Hot-desking and co-working spaces for creative freelancers
  • Meeting rooms available for hire

Supporting Local Talent

Co-founder Sarah Mitchell said: "Hull has an incredible creative community, but too often people have to travel to Leeds or Manchester for professional studio facilities. We wanted to change that."

The hub has already signed partnerships with Hull College and the University of Hull to provide work experience placements for students studying media and film production.

Economic Impact

The Hull Studio is expected to create 15 full-time jobs directly and support dozens more freelance positions. The founders estimate it will keep over £2 million of production spending in the Hull area annually that would otherwise go to facilities in other cities.
