Hull KR Hold Off Brisbane in Historic 30-24 World Club Challenge Win

Hull Kingston Rovers made history at the MKM Stadium by claiming their first ever World Club Challenge trophy with a thrilling 30-24 victory over Brisbane Broncos.

The Robins, Super League champions for the first time last season, led 24-6 at half-time before the Broncos launched a remarkable comeback that fell agonisingly short.

First Half Dominance

Hull KR were outstanding in the opening 40 minutes, with tries from Mikey Lewis, Elliot Minchella, and a brace from Peta Hiku establishing what seemed like an unassailable lead. Lewis was in imperious form, controlling the game with his kicking and running game.

Brisbane Fight Back

The Broncos came out for the second half with renewed intensity, scoring three tries in 20 minutes to close the gap to just six points. The 12,500 crowd were on the edge of their seats as Brisbane mounted wave after wave of attacks.

The Decisive Moment

With ten minutes remaining and Brisbane pressing hard, a crucial turnover by Ryan Hall on his own try line swung the momentum back to the Robins. Lewis then sealed the victory with a penalty goal to make it 30-24.

Celebrations

Captain Elliot Minchella lifted the trophy to roars from the Hull faithful. "This is what dreams are made of," he said. "To win the World Club Challenge in front of our own fans is something I'll never forget."
